8 August 2016 PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
Present: Fr. Ted, Mary Kay Smith, Kerrie Wiese, Joanna Newton, Greg Coons, Bill Turri, Ann Mclarnan
YTD FINANCIAL REPORT AS OF MAY 31
Expenses $ 98,525.47
Financial picture continues to be strong. Contributions are in line with the trends of the past few years. Income is up, partly due to
contributions for the Memorial Garden, but the expenses for that will be paid soon, so the gap between income and expenses will be closed. A grateful thank you to all
who continue to give generously to the work of the parish.
Council discussed Fr. Ted’s role as area Dean and duties required in that role, and the occasional need for him to be absent to serve in
another deanery parish, and also the remuneration for a substitute priest. Council discussed the impact Dn. Steve’s departure will have on the liturgy, especially
the Communion line – with only one chalice, it will take twice as long for communion. Ideas were discussed for what issues this might raise and how to handle them.
The Budget Committee for 2017 will be meeting soon to propose a budget for the September Parish Council Meeting. The November 13 Annual
Parish Meeting will need to elect 3 people to Parish Council, 2 Auditors, and a representative to the Diocesan Assembly. Anyone from the parish interested in
learning more about the Diocesan Assembly or in serving as the parish delegate to the 2017 Diocesan Assembly should talk to Ann McLarnan or Fr. Ted.
Council will look again into the issue of improving the lighting in the sanctuary. Council agreed to inform the landscaper about
what mowing should be done around the church. Council discussed plans for the November 5-6 visit by our bishop, His Grace, Paul, November 4-6.
Church School teachers meet August 21. Any parish members interested in helping with the church school program should speak with
Kerrie Wiese. A task force has been established to ensure that the parish is complying with all diocesan directives regarding the prevention of sexual misconduct in the church.
Annual parish picnic is scheduled for Sunday, September 11. We need parish volunteers to help organize this event. Please speak with Mary Kay Smith.
The “Mary and the Saints” Icon Exhibit is set for the weekend of October 14-16. We are hoping to get a food truck to come for some of that time.
