The Tree of True Life was planted in the Place of the Skull
and upon it the eternal King has worked salvation in the midst of the earth.
Exalted today, it sanctifies the ends of the world,
and the church of the Resurrection celebrates its consecration.
Angels in heaven rejoice, and all people on earth are glad,
crying out and saying in David's words:
"Exalt the Lord our God and worship at the footstool of His feet,
for He is holy and grants the world great mercy!"

From the Litya verses for the Feast of the Elevation of the Precious Cross, September 14

The adult discussion group will meet on Wednesday, September 19, 11 AM to continue a discussion on a vision for Orthodoxy in America. We will be looking at a couple of articles that deal with some of the first Russian Orthodox missionaries to America who began to envision an Orthodox Church for America that wasn't here to serve ethnic migrants but was here to establish an English language church for all Americans. Please see Fr. Ted to get a copy of the reading materials if you would like to join the discussion.

Coming up later this fall: Interested in joining a group to meet four times to read and discuss Fr. Alexander Schmemann's For the Life of the World? This 1963 classic, which inspired both the establishment of the OCA and of our parish is being reissued by St. Vladimir's Press. Talk to Fr. Ted about meeting dates and times and ordering copies of the book.
